The employees here are ALWAYS SO SUPER NICE. I love good customer service!! I don’t know what I would do without this place sometimes!! I take a lot of rescue cats and try to find them good homes when I can but I’ve gotten stuck with a few so I have like seven or eight cats and every now again like three or four dogs but they usually always find homes pretty quickly so I am so grateful for this place it helps me so much being able to save the money on the free cat food and dog food means I can use the money for other things they need like worming medication, vet bills, helping get them a new home and I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without them much love and MANY BLESSINGS!!🥰🙏🥹😍😇😺🫶🏻🐶

This is where I found my best friend in the world at. I liberated, …er, adopted him several years ago and it was the best decision of my life. He also has proven to be one of the smartest pups I’ve ever had. When I’m down, he tries to cheer me up. There are times when I ask him a question and I think there’s no way he could honestly answer me, it sounds like he does. I ask him to speak for a doggy bone before I give it to him on occasion and he’ll do it without hesitation. He’s housebroken, but only has accidents in the house when he’s sick and can’t make it out the door in time, (which is rare). Loves his tennis ball. He knows what putting on his collar means, (going outside or car ride), (he don’t normally get car sick). When he sleeps, he has to sleep in the same room with me, on the bed, and touching me. This little guy loves me to death. I guess I am his world. I really lucked out in getting a good one. 😉

DETAILED RANT! We had a good experience with Pensacola Humane Society until our most recent visit back in July. Our first visit, we had adopted the sweetest cat, who we love very much. The kitties have a place where they can free roam, there was a nice volunteer there that helped us, the adoption process was easy. The only thing I had to complain about was the nice man that handed us our baby did not shut the carrier properly. I always check to make sure it’s secure, and it wasn’t, but it was an easy fix. Our sweet girl will be turning two this month. We had such a good experience with Pensacola Humane Society that we thought it would be the perfect place to look for a dog. We’ve been thinking about this commitment for quite awhile. We were up and down and up and down that hallway looking for a good match. It stinks so bad in there, which is completely understandable, there were a lot of dogs. But there were roaches crawling on the cages and kibble was scattered all about the floor, everywhere. After looking through all of their dogs, several times over, we settled on a relatively young, good looking dog. We asked to meet him before adoption because we wanted to make sure we were a good match. They left us out alone with him for awhile, we walked him around on the leash and tried playing with him. Such a sweet dog. He tried sitting on our laps despite his size, he’s was super friendly. During the adoption process, the nice lady at the front desk asked us if we had any other pets. We told her about our two cats and small dog back at home. There was absolutely NOTHING mentioned or said about a meet up between pets being suggested or required. We also didn’t find anything about this mentioned on their website. The lady just nodded and smiled. When we took our boy home, of course we kept him separated from our other babies for a few days because we wanted introduction to go smoothly. We enjoyed playing with him, took him out several times a day, bought him a new harness, leash, and toys, loved sleeping in the bed with us. Switched rooms and toys with him so our other animals could get used to his scent and vise versa. We only had him for about four days before he abruptly attacked our smaller dog. He had jumped up and knocked the gate down completely, grabbed our smaller dog by the neck and slung him around like a toy. It was an GHASTLY, graphic mess that I won’t even go into detail about. Our small dog is okay, and is completely healed now! He has a thick neck so he came out with minor injuries. The dog was not aggressive, it looked to me like he thought our smaller dog was a toy. But if he had gotten to our cats at any point (which are more fragile than our small dog is), he absolutely wouldn’t have killed them, and it makes me so sick to even think about. We were not allowed to keep him after this. We had no choice but to take him back the next day before another accident happened, or God forbid he kill our cats or our dog. We felt AWFUL taking him back, but we had no other options. We gave him a thorough bath before returning him, brought him with his harness and leash that they could not accept which is understandable. The staff was upset we brought him back, especially so early, which is also understandable. We were upset too. We were not treated nicely, they did not understand our story well and told us we were not allowed back. I saw the dog ended up on Petfinder, and they had NOTHING mentioned on there that he is not good with smaller pets. On every pet’s profile, there’s a description box so you can learn more about the animal. Nothing. I noticed he’s no longer on Petfinder, so I assume he got adopted, which is great! I’m writing this review to raise awareness when adopting a new dog, because without any information, you never know what will happen or how things will turn out. I hope that Pensacola Humane Society will make sure that adopters know about the pet meetings because this can cause serious issues that can easily be prevented.

Went here to see about adopting a cat. Nice and friendly staff. Kitties seem to be well looked after and have free roam in their area.

Terrible shelter!! The women are absolutely crooked. They turn us down to adopt even though they told us to come back the next day to get one. We payed for a hotel and stayed because we live over an hour away...we just wanted the kitten they promised us. DONT COME HERE! They are biased because we aren't from here.
